the memory of the memory

The project was part of the MFA graduation exhibition I could only see the back of it at Bergen Kunsthall. It was a daily, unannounced, performance that worked with text, found objects, and performance. Some of the questions explored were: “What role can performance play in a group show context?”, “How can/can’t it move in space?”, or “How will it react to the uncertainty of being watched, or by being performed in solitude?”.

lengua / agua / gua explores memory, the fragility of remembering and forgetting. Through language and by recreating the sounds that have been passed from one family member to another it plays with the impossibility of giving someone else a memory. It is repetition, of letting stories seep into the walls of the space and into the consciousness of the people listening, of trying to continue to pass on stories and invoking them.
