They’re interested in making works where the audience can have an atmospheric experience and at the same time be challenged, where vulnerability can help create a connection. Can the space can be queered and challenged? How can stories be told and explored? She graduated from Iceland University of the Arts with a bachelor in contemporary dance (2019), and an MFA from the faculty of Arts, Music, and Design of the University of Bergen (2025). Rita Maria has explored and found interest in broadening her knowledge of art and the possibilities that lie just out of reach. Through workshops and her own creations, she challenges her own conceptions of what performance can be and shares these explorations with the audience through intimate and vulnerable performances. Art for her is something that is constantly being discovered and challenged, and she sees herself as an artist that is always exploring and developing.
